a woman who doesn’t wear perfume has no future- Coco Chanel
Fragrance is always my last step in getting ready and I would honestly feel incomplete without it. I use it as a way to set the tone for that day. For example the first really nice day of the year I always reach for Tom Ford, Soleil Blanc, or Miss Dior when I’m feeling fun and girly. The olfactory area of the brain, where scents are decoded and understood is strongly linked to the part of the brain that stores emotional memories. It is because of this that a fragrance can cause us to feel something very deeply when we wear it, or when someone else wears one. I love this about fragrances, I have my favourite fragrances and all of them have memories of particular times in my life, or times of the year for me. Below I’m going to take you through my favourite luxury fragrances. While these are my current favourites many of them are very classic, which have been favourites for a long time and sure to be for a long time to come.
Tom Ford Soleil Blanc
This is currently my favourite summer/vacation fragrance. I know I have spoken endlessly about it already on this blog, but I really can’t give it enough praise. It was released summer of 2016, so it may not be as classic as many of the other fragrances on this list. I believe it is definitely one of those fragrances you won’t tire of. As I’ve said it really is a summer, or vacation scent, I would never wear this on a rainy, or cold day. It has notes of sunscreen (one of my favourite scents ever, probably as it is emotionally attached to some of my favourite and happiest memories of being on vacation) and tropical fruits.
Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream
This is another one of my summer, or spring fragrances. It is powdery and floral and a bit musky too. I purchased this after meeting a woman in a boutique and had to ask her what she was wearing.
Tom Ford Black Orchid
This is a sweet and musky scent and it is one I wear during fall and winter. I purchased it specifically because I had too many summery fragrances and needed something warming for those dark, cold months. I initially received this as a Sephora sample.
Jo Malone Velvet Rose & Oud
This is my latest addition to my fragrance collection and I love it. I get compliments when I wear it and I think it is a sexy, spicy, winter fragrance. The bottle is also a beautiful addition to my vanity.
Admittedly, I bought this because of marketing. I fell in love with that Miss Dior Cherie add (and I’m gutted that they’ve since discontinued it). Miss Dior is absolutely a classic fragrance. It is young and feminine and looks absolutely gorgeous on your vanity, with the silver bow around the cap.
Another classic. I discovered Chanel Chance when I was sixteen and it has been a staple for me ever since. I currently have the body lotion. Again, this is a youthful and fun fragrance.
Chanel Coco Mademoiselle
When I was seventeen my mother gave me a Chanel moisturizer with this fragrance in it and I have been devoted to it ever since. It is a very classic scent. I think it is one of those scents you can wear throughout your life, both as a young girl as well as an elegant lady.
I chose this as one of my rewards from Sephora as I had yet to try any Guerlain products and was curious after all I’ve heard from other bloggers. I’m so in love with this fragrance. It is classic, understated and feminine. I think it is the perfect fragrance for everyday and as a signature scent.
